CM Punk's first match in ROH took place at All Star Extravaganza where he lost a match for the Number 1 Contenders Trophy against Michael Shane. It didnt take long for Punk to fall into his niche though, as he soon formed the Second City Saints along wiht long-time partners Colt Cabana and Ace Steele. The Saints soon became one of the most dominating factions in ROH history, not without the help of Punk, the saints' leader. Punk began what many believe to be the feud of the year in 2003 with Raven. Alot of the hatred between the two was due to their contrasting lifestyles. Raven's life of debauchery is well documented, and even though he has since reformed his ways, the Straight Edge CM Punk resented him. This feud produced many show-stealing matches, brawls, and promos including ROH's first 2 Steel Cage Matches, the last of which CM Punk won to ultimately come out on top and cement himself as one of the top Indie stars in The US today. Today, as well as being a regular competetor in ROH, Punk is the head trainer for the ROH Wrestling School, passing along his knowledge and expertese along to a future generation of Indie stars.
